5. Audubon Society - Starr Ranch Research Internship
Starr Ranch is a 4000 acre National Audubon Society wildlife sanctuary dedicated to research and preservation. Participants will 1) Assist researchers, 2) lead nature walks during public events, 3) attend meetings on environmental issues with sanctuary management, 4) learn sanctuary upkeep and administration, and 5) gather data and report on an independent field study or conservation project. Starr Ranch personnel and researchers provide guidance on intern projects as needed. A stipend and housing on the ranch are available. This program is open to college undergraduate or graduate students, having some ecological, biological, or conservation background, who seek an independent research experience.
