Juniperus pinchotii occurs in small, scattered populations in the southwest and western parts of the state and is abundant on rocky hills and stream banks of central to west Texas. The pollen is allergenic and is shed in the fall from late September to late November. Juniperus pollen picked up by our air samplers during October and November is from those populations in Southwestern Oklahoma. Juniperus pollen levels are low at this time, and probably do not cause any problems for those allergic to it.
